Blessings for Harry's family and friends. Just discovered his obituary. Apologies this comment wants more timely. Harry changed my life. I was having breakfast with a former Commanding Officer of NAVMASSO/SPAWAR. I was telling him Harry Hanna stories. Harry supported Captain Bill Rush and his team create a dynamic and respective organization that was charged with automating the logistics and material readiness of the Navy's weapons platforms - ships, submarines, aircraft supporting Sue installations and supporting organizations. I was a youngster back in the mid to late 80's and had the opportunity to be engaged with and learn from Captain Rush and Harry. Exciting times. Later one evening after several long days and nights, Hai and I were wrapping up. I asked Harry, after his observations, how I should direct my efforts, focus my energies. He offered that I had the benefit of understanding the entire organization, all the way across, about an inch deep. He offered that I should pick an area and go deeper. Could be money, manpower, technical, acquisition, logistics, readiness. It didn't matter what I started since the more I learned about a topic, the more the other subjects would come into focus. The more topics, the more I would be snow to connect the dots between them, this adding value to whoever organization I served. Changed my life. It's been nearly 40 years since that night. I've been following his advice my entire career. I've shared that story hundreds of times. It's a model I still follow. Understand the organization in context... All the way across, then go deeper in key areas, knowing that one subject will lead to another. Harry was brilliant in a very practical way. He helped lots of people everywhere. Although he's resting in peace, I believe he's still doing what he always did... Help folks understand how they can make a difference. He's still having an impact on my life. And I continue to share Harry Hanna stories often. How it brings a smile to Harris face. I know it does mine.
