Homer E. Calhoun, 87 of Findlay Township, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones, on Thursday, November 25, 2021. He was born in Mt. Pleasant, Ohio on March 21, 1934 and is the son of the late George and Arlie Calhoun. He was the beloved husband of Alice (Murdock) Calhoun; loving father of Robert (Teresa) Calhoun, Joyce (Calhoun) Ferguson and the late Lawrence Calhoun; brother of the late Walter Calhoun; grandfather of Sabrina (Brandon) Renner, Dave (Jennifer) Ferguson, Cody, Kevin and Kayla Calhoun, John and Jason Freeland; great-grandfather of Landon, Brody and Clayton Calhoun and Traven Renner.
Homer was a railroad engineer for 44 years, until he retired from Wheeling & Lake Erie Railroad in 1996. He was a member of Union Presbyterian Church where he had previously served as a trustee for six years. Homer was kind, loving and a blessing to everyone in his life. It did not matter if the encounter with him was brief or a lifetime friendship, everyone loved Homer. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family, friends and neighbors. The memories that he left behind will be treasured and he will always live on in our hearts.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 11 am at Union Presbyterian Church, 6165 Steubenville Pike, McKees Rocks, PA 15136, followed by a luncheon. Arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township, PA.
