Jack Lou Merckle Sr., age 93, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on January 22, 2026. He was born on August 22, 1932, in Fly, Ohio, to the late Goldie May (Rice) Merckle and Stafford Merckle.
Jack was the devoted husband of Nancy Merckle, with whom he shared 74 loving years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Bonnie Merckle as well as his brothers Chuck Merckle, Sam Merckle, Dale Merckle, and his sister Judy (Merckle) Leasure.
Jack is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children, Jack Merckle Jr. and Vickie Wagner (Bob); his grandchildren, Bob Wagner Jr. (Tiffany), Chad Wagner, Jack Merckle III, Jessie Merckle, and Blake Merckle; and his great-grandchildren, Troy Wagner, Brody Wagner, Jack Merckle IV, Charlie Merckle, and Millie Merckle.
Jack spent many years working as a deckhand on the rivers before retiring from Davison Sand and Gravel. In retirement, he remained active and involved, spending time as a stagehand at Stage 62 and traveling the country with close friends and wife, Nancy. He resided in Canonsburg for the past 26 years.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Jack especially enjoyed spending time at his camp in Ohio. Above all, he cherished time spent making memories with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In accordance with Jack’s wishes, there will be no public viewing. A blessing service will be held at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care on Friday, January 30, 2025 at 11am, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA, 15317, followed by burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
