Jacob Lis, age 34, of Washington, passed away unexpectedly on January 6, 2025.

Born on March 5, 1990, he was the son of Paula and the late Dale Lis and he was the loving brother of  Yuri (Maria) Kennedy, Andrew Lis, and Daniel Lis.

Jacob was a proud graduate of Chartiers Houston High School. His thirst for knowledge and desire to make a difference led him to St. Vincent College, where he deepened his understanding of the world and began to cultivate his passion for both art and the environment.

Jacob’s creative spirit was one of his defining qualities. Whether he was painting, sketching, or simply dreaming up his next project, he had an uncanny ability to bring beauty to life with a few strokes of his brush. His art captured the essence of simplicity and nature, and each piece told a story of the world through his eyes.

An ardent believer in service to others, Jacob also dedicated a portion of his life to the Peace Corps, where he worked with communities to build a better future. His time there further reinforced his passion for people, progress, and positive change.

Above all, Jacob will be remembered for his warmth and laughter. His smile and infectious laugh could light up a room and bring comfort to even the most difficult of days. He had a quiet strength, always there for his friends and family, offering support and encouragement with a genuine heart.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 11 am – 5 pm at 1000 Crosswinds Dr., McMurray, PA 15317.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care.

Dear and Sons, My heart is heavy with sorrow for the loss of Jacob. I wish I didn’t know what you will go through. You are not alone. I pray all of you will cling to each other in your grief. Love is the only comfort. Grief is the unexpressed love you didn’t get the chance to give.

I graduated with Jake from CH and he was one of my best friends during that time period. I briefly reconnected with him in 2024 and he told me about the first time he met me and the most off the wall things I said and he knew then that he wanted to be my friend. Jake had the most infectious laugh and we especially bonded over the Silent Hill and Kingdom Hearts games. My condolences go out to Jake’s family ❤️ he will be sorely missed!

Jake and my brother were born around the same time, so I knew Jake from a period of time with chubbier cheeks. :) That infectious smile and laugh were there from the very beginning. My heart breaks at this loss. I love thus whole family so much.
