James Frederick Elder, 80, of Saxonburg, PA, lost his courageous battle to COPD on Friday, April 30, 2021 at his home surrounded by his wife, adoring family, and friends. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on December 14, 1940, he was the son of the late Frederick H. Elder and Helen E. Ward Elder. James is survived by the love of his life, soulmate, and spouse Donna Elder whom he married on February 13, 1993; his son James F. (Lori) Elder II and grandson James K. Elder; his daughter Traci D. Elder; step-daughters Traci L. Lawson and Becky L. (Greg) Kemper; step-grandchildren Keon and Kye Barrett and Logan, Jackson, and Mia Kemper; sister-in-law Cheryl (Alan) Kirkwood; brother-in-law Joseph (Dee) Markus; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and very close friends.
James was a graduate of Mars High School and attended Grove City College. Past member of Mars Methodist Church, most recently attended New Life Christian Ministries. He served in the United States Air Force Reserve. He owned and operated J&D Engineering most of his entire life. After the sale of his business he was employed by Dutchman Racing and Henry Racing Engines.
His many hobbies and interests included motocross racing, scuba diving, skiing, and traveling. He was also an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. He enjoyed his family, friends, grandchildren, and pets.
James will be deeply missed and remembered for his zest for life, fantastic sense of humor, and easygoing spirit.
No visitation. Family and friends are welcome to a Celebration of Life Service at New Life Christian Ministries 139 Knoch Road Saxonburg, PA 16056 on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11:00am followed by a memorial luncheon. Arrangement entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, Robinson Township.
