James Harvey Perrine

  • On December 31, 2020

Jim passed away on December 13, 2020 at Country Meadows in Bridgeville, PA at the age of 74.  He was a long time resident of the South Hills. Jim is survived by his wife, Jo Ann, sons David and Jonathan, step-sons Chris and Jon Bennett, and 5 grandchildren.  Jim’s parents were Ethel LaBarbera, Harvey Perrine, and step-father Vincent LaBarbera.

Jim attended Duquesne University and went on to have a long career teaching instrumental music, most of it working with students grades 4 through high school in the Bethel Park School District.  He enjoyed sailing his boat “Empty Pockets” in Lake Arthur and in the Chesapeake Bay near Annapolis, MD, and spent a great deal of time after retiring from teaching pursuing his photography hobby.  Jim enjoyed working with the Bethel Park Lion’s Club alongside several close friends from his teaching days.  He will be missed by those who loved him.

Due to COVID-19 protocols, no service will be held at this time.

Contributions can be made to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation.

Mrs. Perrine and boys, I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Perrine. Diana Corbin whom I was in band with contacted me today in Houston, Texas and let me know that Mr. Perrine pasted. I have so many wonderful memories of Mr. Perrine and I love all of my years in band with him. I loved and respected him so much that in 1997, I brought my two small daughters to school to show him them. For me he was a real father figure, as mine wasn't around and it always felt that he was there for me. Again, I am so sorry for your loss and you are all in my prayers!! Mr. Perrine is an integral part of the legacy of the Bethel Park School District music program. We are all so fortunate for the gift of music he shared with Bethel Park students and the community at-large. Our hearts are with the entire Perrine family. God bless and love music!
