Jane Winona Sheller Teagarden, 82, of Finleyville, PA; formerly of Claysville, PA, passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle of Pancreatic Cancer and Alzheimer’s Disease on November 24, 2025. Born on June 6, 1943 in Washington, PA, she is daughter of the late Gaylord and Mae Sheller.

Loving Mama to Melissa Teagarden of Finleyville, PA; Beloved Nana to Julian Yetter of Finleyville; Sister to Samuel (Marilyn) Sheller of Fairfax, VA and Gene (Consuelo) Sheller of West Alexander, PA; Sister in law to Brian Teagarden of Washington, PA; Aunt to Maria Sheller of Alliance OH, Gena Sheller of Washington PA, Samantha (Nathaniel) Dye of Chardon OH, and Matt (Casey) Teagarden of McMurray; Great-aunt to Isaac Mayen, Adeline Dye, Julia Teagarden, and Paige Teagarden.

She is previously deceased by her husband of 61 years, Bernard Teagarden; A son, Timothy Teagarden; her brother, Donald Sheller; and her Sister in Law, Kathryn Teagarden.

Jane dedicated her life to caring for others, beginning at the Washington Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a pediatric nurse, later earning her bachelor’s degree in education.  She then taught pediatric nursing.  She later served as a substitute school nurse at McGuffey High & Middle Schools, and then worked at local dentist’s offices in Claysville and Washington until retiring.

Jane had a true passion for music and spent her life sharing that gift with others. She enjoyed playing the saxophone in high school marching band, playing and teaching the piano, and proudly served her church as an organist in her youth.  She loved to sing, and did so every day.

Jane had a soft spot for animals, especially cats, and she was always happiest with her pet nearby. In her free time, Jane loved to host others at her home, and absolutely loved her farm.  Her home was very much “the place to be,” so much so that Melissa’s friends called her “Mama Jane.”

Jane loved playing games, especially cards or trivial pursuit.  She enjoyed going for long walks on her farm or at the beach, as well swimming, and spending time with her family on vacations in Ocean City, Maryland. Jane also had a well-known love of sweets and never turned down a treat. Jane loved her family and cherished every moment spent with them.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on December 6, 2025 from 10am until the time of service at 12pm at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA, 15317. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Washington City Mission. All arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care.

Jane and I are cousins but she always called me her “ Sista” because we spent every summer together growing up and after growing up we spent as much time as we could. I have a ton of memories to cherish! She was very special!

Our family was blessed to be neighbors to Jane and her dear husband Bernard. Jane gave us a gift we will never forget. In fact, we enjoy this gift throughout the year. Jane shared her delicious roll recipe with our family. We have affectionately called them The Teagarden Rolls. Jane would get up early and bake them before the school bus driver picked up her sweet little Melissa. The school bus driver absolutely loved these butter-topped rolls and so do we! Jane and her husband love the Lord and we're happy to know they are rejoicing together in the presence of Jesus.

Dear Gene and Connie, Our condolences on the death of your sister/sister-in-law. Having lost my mother to Altzheimer's, I can understand that you may have mixed emotions. Nevertheless, it's always hard to lose a loved one. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both. Jim and Sandy (Hunter) Craig
