He received a purple heart from a mission he was on as a medivac with his Dust Off unit when his helicopter was shot down while attempting a rescue. Jerry worked his way up to Battalion Chief as a City of Pittsburgh firefighter. His greatest achievement was that of being the kindest, most generous grandfather. His life revolved around them.
Jerry was an amazing craftsman and was always helping others as a labor of love. He built personalized large playhouses and hand carved rocking horses for his grandkids. Jerry was so proud of all his grandkids accomplishments; he was their #1 supporter.
