Jerome “Jerry” Crowley, age 71 of Pittsburgh, passed away surrounded by his family on June 8, 2022. Beloved husband and best friend of 51 years to Rita Weaver Crowley. Loving father of Jill (Denny) Scullion and the late Heidi (Brian) Schroeder. Best grandpa ever to Jerome and Catherine O’Connell, Jocelyn and Gracie Scullion and Leroy Schroeder. Brother of Jack (Mary) Crowley, Carol (Terry) Brennan and Cathy Crowley. Brother-in-law of Mary Lou Reynolds, Leonard Weaver, Joe Weaver, Anna Gallagher, Jim Weaver, Jean Schneider, John Weaver and the late Esther Jackson and Dan Weaver. Also, survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Jerry served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971 at which time he did 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. He received a purple heart from a mission he was on as a medivac with his Dust Off unit when his helicopter was shot down while attempting a rescue. Jerry worked his way up to Battalion Chief as a City of Pittsburgh firefighter. His greatest achievement was that of being the kindest, most generous grandfather. His life revolved around them.

Jerry was an amazing craftsman and was always helping others as a labor of love. He built personalized large playhouses and hand carved rocking horses for his grandkids. Jerry was so proud of all his grandkids accomplishments; he was their #1 supporter. He even made a flight to Chicago to see his granddaughter’s performance hours after receiving his 28th radiation treatment. His kindness and generosity touched many lives and will truly be missed.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, from 1-3 and 5-8 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 5405 Steubenville Pike, Robinson Twp., PA 15136, where a Blessing service will be held on Wednesday at 12:30 pm.
