Joan Pickens (née Martier), affectionately known as Jody, died on December 27, 2021 at age 70.  A loving mother, sister, aunt, great-aunt and devoted friend, she was a joy and inspiration to all.  She was a 30-year employee of Gladieux and later an assistant activities director at Masonic Village.  Jody was renowned for her culinary skills, and her Christmas Eve parties were always a highly anticipated event.  Few people were as creative as Jody, and she delighted in making Halloween costumes for her children.

Jody was pre-deceased by her parents, Joan and Frank Martier. She is survived by her children Dustin Pickens and his wife, Janet, and her grandchildren, Carolyn and Colin and daughter Shayna and her husband, James Obukhovsky. Additionally, she is survived by her brothers, Robert Martier and his wife, Elizabeth Murphy, and Frank Martier, as well as nephew, Robert Martier, Jr., and great nephews, Charles and Oliver Martier, and great nephew and great niece, Aiden and Ava Martier.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to The ALS Association Western Pennsylvania Chapter www.als.org or the animal charity of your choice. Private arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township, PA.

Jody -- I couldn't help but admire the way you faced your illness; always with a smile and plans for the next day. So glad I got to know you anew these last couple of years and I'll never watch a Steeler game without thinking of you and remembering. ♥️
