John A. Campbell

John Anderson Campbell, 80, of Venetia, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

John was born January 27, 1946, in Michigan, a son of the late Laurence B. Campbell and Eleanor M. Falk. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1964 and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing from Western Michigan University in 1967.

John began his insurance career with Aetna Life & Casualty in Michigan as a field representative. His career took him to Cincinnati, Ohio, and then, in 1973, to the Pittsburgh area. In 1975, he became a partner in a long-time family insurance agency in Washington, Pennsylvania. That experience ultimately led him to establish Campbell Insurance Associates in 1989. John devoted more than 50 years to the insurance profession and took great pride in serving his clients, working alongside his family, and being part of the Washington County community.

On February 6, 1965, John married his high school sweetheart, Barbara L. Campbell, who survives. Together, John and Barbara shared more than 61 years of marriage and built a life centered around their family.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his son, Mark (Nan) Campbell, and their children, Molly (Corey) Smith and Michael Campbell (Madison Marinello); his daughter, Lori Enders, and her children, Nick Enders (Brooke Morningstar) and RJ Enders; and his great-granddaughters, Scottie Campbell Smith and Shae Riley Smith. He is also survived by his brother, Chuck (Sue) Campbell of Dexter, Michigan, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews, and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

While John had many interests throughout his life, including the insurance business, community projects, spending time with friends, and being on his boat, nothing was more important to him than his family. He especially treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-granddaughters.

John was a Presbyterian by faith and believed deeply in giving back to the community that had become his home. He was always willing to help a worthy cause or an individual in need, and his ever-present smile reflected the warmth and generosity with which he approached others.

When his children were young, John coached many of the teams they played on and served in leadership positions with several youth sports organizations. That same spirit of service extended throughout his life, as he generously shared his time, talents, and treasures with numerous civic, charitable, and professional organizations, including the Washington County Community Foundation; the Washington Greene Health Foundation, formerly The Washington Hospital Foundation; United Way; Washington County Chamber of Commerce; Rotary; the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America; the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of Pennsylvania; the Jaycees; Special Olympics; and many other organizations throughout the community

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 2:00 pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 4:00 pm, at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317.
