John Anthony Piasecki Jr., age 72, of Robinson Township, formerly of Blawnox, passed away on November 8, 2024. Born on May 29, 1952 in Pittsburgh, PA, he is the son of the late John and Doris Piasecki.
John is survived by his wife of 24 years, Karen Nickel; His beloved children, John Douglas (Becca) Piasecki, Sarah Piasecki, Sara (AJ) Steinsdoerfer, and Elizabeth Acklin; Brother to Jolene (Ron) Dziuban; Grandfather to 7 grandchildren — Laurel, Willa, Julian, and Zadie Piasecki and Mason, Mila, Maelyn Steinsdoerfer; Uncle to Lauren (Shaila) Dziuban and Matthew (Ally) Ward; Great-uncle to Matthew Ward Jr.; and Brother-in-law to Kelly Ward.
John was a proud graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy, an achievement that stood as one of his most cherished accomplishments. The training and experience he gained there helped shape his exemplary career in law enforcement, where he went on to supervise several key units, including the Organized Crime Section, the Organized Retail Crime Section, the Human Trafficking Section, and the Gaming Unit. He also played an integral role in the protection of high-profile officials, including providing protection detail for multiple U.S. Attorneys General.
His 40-year career with the Attorney General’s office, where he rose through the ranks to serve as a Special Agent, Supervisory Special Agent, and ultimately as Regional Director, was marked by his dedication to justice, his tireless work ethic, and his unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of his community.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, John had a deep love for his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was a proud father who found immeasurable joy in spending time with his kids and grandkids, attending their sporting events and vacationing together. His grandkids were the light of his life, and he relished every opportunity to be involved in their lives, offering guidance, love, and laughter. John’s passion for family extended beyond just his immediate circle—he valued close connections with those he loved, always striving to make memories and share experiences.
An avid traveler, John enjoyed taking cruises all over the world, creating lasting memories with his family as they explored new destinations and cultures. He was also a self-proclaimed connoisseur of Pittsburgh’s best donut spots and enjoyed fantasy football. He leaves behind a legacy of public service, devotion to family, and an enduring love for adventure and traveling with Karen to new destinations.
He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Family and friends will be welcome on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, Robinson Township, 5405 Steubenville Pike, Pittsburgh, PA, 15136. A service will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township. The family would also like to extent an invitation to join them at the luncheon immediately following the service on Wednesday at Chartiers Country Club, 601 Baldwin Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the entire Office of the Attorney General, Governor Josh Shapiro, as well as his loyal friends and coworkers, Gary Tallent, Aaron Vitale, Jimmy Hindinger, Robinson Township Police Officer, Tim Nutter, and the Honorable Bruce Beemer.
