John A. Schmitt, of Bethel Park (formerly of Regent Square), passed away on November 11, 2020 at age 66.

Born on October 11, 1954, he was preceded in death by his mother Amy Carolyn and his father Frederick Milton.

Beloved husband of Connie Schmitt for 29 years; father of Chris and Erica; grandfather of Logan Renae; brother of Erick, Amy, Scheri (Barry), and Spahr (Dawn); uncle of George E. Grant III.

John was a 1972 graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School.  As a highly respected auto body technician, John was known for his attention to detail and meticulous workmanship. He was passionate about his craft, continuing his professional education by studying new approaches and techniques. In his spare time, John enjoyed tinkering, building, and inventing. Most importantly, he loved to laugh and was endlessly giving of his good humor and warm heart. John was a gentle soul; the gaze of his kind, hazel eyes was reassuring and soothing. He was a trusted confidant and mentor to many throughout his life. Guided by his Faith, John ran a single-parents group at Rancho Capistrano Community Church for years. He positively impacted the life of everyone he met. He worked hard to provide memorable, lasting experiences for his two children, who gave him boundless joy and purpose.

John was drawn to the beach and spent many years living in Southern California and Hawaii, before ultimately returning to Pennsylvania to be close to his family.

Now, taken from them far too soon during this trying period of judicious restraint, a formal celebration of his life will be planned for a future date.
