John J. Len, 80, of South Fayette, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on March 29, 2026. He was born on July 5, 1945 in Carnegie, PA, and resided for numerous years in Scott Township and Upper St. Clair.

He was a loving husband to Mary Carol (Calderone) and beloved father to Deborah (Kenneth) Wolfson and Michael (Stephanie) Len. He was the ‘Papa Bear’ to the grandchildren he adored, Nicholas & Maya Wolfson and Donovan & Camden Len. He was a supportive brother to Richard Len, Frankie (Yvette) Len and the late Cathy (Joe) Widmyer. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank & Rose Len. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who could call on ‘Uncle John’ for advice at any time.

He was in the first graduating class (1963) of Bishop Canevin High School and a graduate from Saint Vincent College. He was a founder of the consulting firm Holmberg, Len and Associates and eventually held the position of President of the O. Hommel Company, which was located in Scott Township.

His passions included being a dedicated husband to his wife, Mary Carol, and caring for her throughout the years and being a mentor to his children and grandchildren. He recently proclaimed himself as the ‘Luckiest Man In the World’ and was a loyal supporter of his grandchildren, nieces and nephews by being in the bleachers, on the sidelines or in the audience at their academic, athletic and theatrical events. He enjoyed supporting all of his local sports teams and some of his best memories took place tailgating and attending Steeler games with all who were close to him. In his retirement, you could always find him on a local golf course sharing his weekdays with his friends.

He will always be remembered as ‘Papa….The Man, The Myth, The Legend’.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at PITTSBURGH CREMATION AND FUNERAL SERVICES, 3287 Washington Rd. McMurray, PA. John Len Family, So sorry to hear about the passing of John, the Patriarch of your family. Your Dad and I were classmates and friends going back to 1963 when we started at St. Vincent. John was always the calm, even-keeled one in our circle of friends and I can honestly say I never saw him get really mad about anything. Always focused on his education he was a gentle man and a gentlemen through and through. Although we didn't stay in touch as much as we should have we did get together now and then for dinner or a pierogi treat before a Steeler game. It was always good to see him. My deepest sympathies to all the members of the Len family. You, as well as the rest of us, have lost a good person. May the thoughts of all the good times you spent together sustain you in the days ahead. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Tom Dziuban Edgewater, MD.

I am proud to have been a friend of John's. He was always pleasant, always kind and always a pleasure to play golf with. Shortly after joining the league, I saw John and his grandchildren at a model train museum in Gibsonia. Being great with faces but bad with names, I called him Mike the whole time. Not wanting to embarrass me, he didn't correct me.

John was a gentleman in the very best of ways and was my classmate at Canevin. I’m so sorry to see this today.
