John “Jack” C. Laffin, age 91, of Bethel Park, PA formerly of Los Angeles, CA passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 26, 2023.

Born on June 12, 1931, he was the son of the late William and Marguerite Laffin and dear brother of Elizabeth and the late William.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Rachel Laffin, whom he met in the young Mariners group at the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood.

He was the Loving father to Suzanne Laffin, Linda (Michael) Lesniak, Jennifer (Tom) Galbraith, William (Haneet) Laffin. Cherished “Grandperfect” of John, Jessica, Lauren, Jack, Tommy, Gracie, Jhoran, Saajin, and Arjun.

What do you say about a man who touched the lives of so many…

Jack proudly served in the US Air Force as a military policeman, based in Casablanca, serving during the Korean War. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.S. degree in Advertising, was a proud Phi Delta Theta fraternity alumnus and host of the campus radio show for KUSC. He had a profound career in the aerospace industry as a Director of International Communications for Rockwell International and then continued to make an impact in the business community through his own management consulting firm.

His career allowed him the opportunity to engage with countless dignitaries, scientists, athletes and celebrities.  The two most memorable moments include being invited to attend the Nobel Foundation Prize Gala dinner in Stockholm and the opportunity to spend time with Neil Armstrong during the Apollo Space Program.

He was an active and faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for almost 50 years where he served as a Deacon, Elder and a Stephen’s Minister.

Jack enjoyed traveling, from jetting on the Concorde to the Paris Air Shows to cross-country camping with his family. He was a lifelong trumpet player, avid golfer and was socially active with his loving wife, Rachel, and all of their extended friends coast to coast.

A true gentleman who touched the heart of everyone he met and always left them smiling.  His legacy will live on through our cherished memories of his wonderful sense of humor, strong work ethic, captivating stories, and unselfish love and devotion for his faith and family.

All services will be private.  Funeral arrangements entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Rd., McMurray, PA 15317.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel-St. Clair Meals on Wheels, 2999 Bethel Church Rd, Bethel Park, PA 15102 United Way ID: 10251460.
