John “Jack” H. Onder, age 88, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, at Magee-Women’s Hospital. He was born on August 8, 1937, in McKeesport, PA, to the late Joseph and Bertha (Huss) Onder.
Jack graduated from McKeesport High School in 1955. That same year, he met the love of his life, Dorothy Ann (Dunlevy) Onder, at the South Park swimming pool. What began as a playful encounter when Jack and his friends mischievously dunked Dorothy and her friends in the pool quickly turned into a lifelong bond. The two became inseparable and were married in 1959, sharing 61 wonderful years together.
During his working years, Jack was employed by Continental Can Company, from which he retired in 1981. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling and could often be found at the lanes with friends. His passion for the sport led him to compete in leagues across the country, earning numerous championships. He was also an avid fisherman who found peace and joy on the water. Whether casting a line at a quiet local spot or spending long mornings waiting for the perfect catch, Jack cherished the simple moments of fishing provided.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Marylou Kritikos; grandson, Conlan E. Onder.
He is survived by his children: John J.(Michelle) Onder, Debra A. Onder, Richard P. Onder, Michael T.(Kristen) Onder, Carol D.(Erik) Hindman, and Tanya L. (David) Moore; his grandchildren: Justin Niedzwecki, John Hindman, Carly Hindman, Noah Onder, Chase Onder, Chandler Onder, and Victoria Onder; and his brothers, Joseph Onder and Cyril Onder.
Private arrangements have been entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, McKees Rocks, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause dear to both John and Dorothy.

Prayers lifted to all of thr family for PEACE and healing. He and Dotty are now reunited with our Heavenly Father and Jesus. Until we meet them in Glory, we will miss him (and his infectious giggle) always smiling, as we all miss Dot amd her loving ways. God promises us in John 3 vs 16 that we will see them again.
