John L. McChesney

John L. McChesney, 83, of Venetia, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on May 24, 1943, in Oil City, Pennsylvania, John was the son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Hutchinson) McChesney. He graduated from Rocky Grove High School in 1961 and went on to build an accomplished career in the radiology industry that spanned more than four decades.

John began his career as an X-ray technician before joining Picker X-Ray, where his dedication, talent, and strong work ethic led him from technician to salesman and ultimately to Sales Manager. He later joined Toshiba Medical Systems, specializing in the sale of CT and MRI systems, and retired as CT Mobility Manager. Throughout his career, John earned the respect of colleagues and customers alike, who admired his professionalism, integrity, honesty, quick wit, and unforgettable gift for storytelling. Along the way, he formed countless lifelong friendships that he treasured deeply.

On June 15, 1963, John married the love of his life and cherished bride, Deanna (Nellis) McChesney. Together they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage and built a family that was the center of John’s world.

He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Deanna; his three daughters, Shelly (John) Maffei, Sheila Alexander (the late Damian Alexander) and Laura Ringwald; and his six beloved grandchildren: Amy (Jacob) Maffei, Ryan Maffei, Kelly Maffei, Chayton Ringwald, Tanner Ringwald, and Koby Ringwald. He also leaves behind many cherished aunts, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

John enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his greatest pastime was golf. He was an avid fan of Pittsburgh sports and faithfully cheered on the Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates. Yet nothing brought him more joy than watching his grandsons compete in hockey, football, and baseball. Even after they graduated and went off to college, John could still be found in the stands, often convincing Deanna to join him as they cheered on local high school athletes simply for the love of the game.

Above all else, John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His family was his greatest accomplishment and his proudest joy. He adored Deanna and treated her as the love of his life every day. He was immensely proud of each of his daughters, and anyone who knew John undoubtedly heard him brag about his six grandchildren. To John, family wasn’t just important—it was everything.

John’s kindness, humor, wisdom, and unwavering love for those around him will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, especially his family. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched and in the memories shared by those who loved him.
