John R. McGonigle

John R. McGonigle age 88, of McMurray passed away June 20, 2017.

He was the son of the late William and Emma McGonigle; beloved husband of Esther McGonigle for 60 years; loving father of Don (Beth) McGonigle of Glen Rock, PA and Craig (Alba) McGonigle of Lake Worth, FL; and cherished grandfather of James, Colleen, Kimberly and Alan McGonigle.

John was a proud LTJG in the United States Navy serving during the Korean Conflict.  He was the Chief Engineer of the USS Damato (DDE-871).  John had a passion for soaring and was a lifelong member of the Cumberland Soaring Group.  He was a nuclear engineer working at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory.

Family and friends are welcome to a service with Full Military Honors at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Rd., Bridgeville, PA on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 1:30 pm.
