John W. Schlueter, age 69, died peacefully at home on Thursday, November 1st, 2018 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was comforted by his beloved wife, Joanie and his loving son, Chris. He was born on November 5th, 1948, son of Ruth and Andrew Schlueter. John is survived by his wife, Joanie, son Chris (Dee), granddaughter Ali, and daughter Laura Karras (Ben McClure). He is also survived by his sisters, Carroll Banker and Karen Greene, nieces, nephews, and sisters and brothers-in-law.

John earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting at Robert Morris University in 1976. Prior to that, he began a long and successful career at Consol Energy. As Vice President of Land Administration, he thrived mentoring his team and fostering lasting relationships. After his retirement in 2006, he formed his own company, Property Management Consulting, where he continued to share his vast knowledge of the energy industry.

 Some of John’s best times were spent sharing a drink with friends at his favorite local pub. John enjoyed sports, particularly golf and Penn State football. He was a movie buff and a car enthusiast. He loved spending time with his family and friends at home in Pittsburgh, as well as in Florida. John’s quick wit, generous spirit, and meticulous ways will be sadly missed by all.

A gathering will be held on Monday, November 5th, 2018 at Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, 2PM – 4PM and 6PM – 8PM. Celebration of Life service on Tuesday, November 6th, 2018. Service begins at 11AM at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 2900 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317. Please meet directly at Mary, Mother of the Church Mausoleum at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UPMC Hillman Cancer Center: Development Office, UPMC Cancer Pavilion, Suite 1B, 5150 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15232.
