Joseph Furmanek age 88 of Robinson Township, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.  Joe was born in Poland and his family immigrated to the United States when he was just a boy.  One of his proudest moments was becoming a US citizen and he was honored to serve his country during the Korean War.  Joe married “the girl next door” and what a handsome couple they made!  Together they spent 63 years in wedded bliss.  He was preceded in death by his father Thomas, mother Sofia, and his brothers Stanley and Edward and is survived by his wife Shirley (Wetchinheiser), his children, Carol Young (Bryan), Sandy Furmanek, Linda Furmanek, Joseph Furmanek (Missy), and Laura D’Eramo (Christopher).  His 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren were a blessing to him, and they will greatly miss him.  Joe was known for his entrepreneurial spirit which led to two successful business ventures.  And even though this meant that he may have missed a meal with his family, they knew that they were loved and well provided for.  His first-generation work ethic continues to live on in his children.  When not at work, Joe’s passions were golf and bowling and he actually owned a bowling alley later in life where he was known affectionately as Papa Joe.  A private family memorial service is being scheduled this week.  Monetary donations in honor of Joseph Furmanek can be made to Wounded Warriors Project at  https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/default.aspx?tsid=10043&ovr_acv_id=5246. Arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township, PA.
