Joseph J. Franz, age 93, of Carrick, passed away with family by his side on July 20, 2024.

Born on December 26, 1930, he was the son of the late Mary and Wenzel Franz.

Beloved husband of the late Anna Godino Franz; loving father of Cynthia (Jerome) Wassel; cherished grandfather of Jeffrey Augenstein, Jason (Emily) Augenstein and Jerome Wassel; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his 10 siblings.

Joseph proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. Following his service he worked for over 40 years at J & L Steel. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle back in the day.  He was an avid dancer whether it was  Ballroom or Polka. He loved his German heritage, he even taught himself German.  Most of all he was a strong supporter of his family, he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are welcome on Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 2-8 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Rd., McMurray, PA 15317, 724-260-5546.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 10 am at Resurrection Parish, St. Thomas Moore, 126 Fort Couch Rd., Bethel Park, PA 15241. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Verona, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
