Josephine Cunningham, née Arguelles, 101, most recently of McMurray, Pennsylvania, passed away on 7/31/2026 at home. Born on February 13, 1925, in Ziesing, near Shinnston, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late José and Maria Alonso Arguelles.
Josephine grew up in Langeloth, Washington County, Pennsylvania, alongside her twin sister, Elvira (Arguelles) Cuervo, and younger sister, Mary (Arguelles) Muller, both of whom predeceased her. After graduating from Union High School in Burgettstown in 1943, she went on to graduate from Business Training School (now Point Park College) in Pittsburgh. In 1946, she married Colin Cunningham, who preceded her in death in 2007.
She retired in 1991 from IMO Industries, formerly Transamerica Delaval, in Mt. Lebanon.
Previously, she was employed by Dravo Corporation as an Assistant Credit Manager and Office Manager.
Josephine lived in Hopewell Township and Mt. Lebanon over the years before moving to Moon Township. Many will remember her with one of her beloved Chihuahuas nestled in her arms.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Allison (Bob); her son, David Cunningham (Karen), with whom she resided; four grandchildren, Coleen Olsson, Ryan Allison (Wendy), Kelsey Cunningham (Brandon Morrison), and Abby Cunningham; four great-grandchildren, Shane Olsson, Titus Allison, Oliver Morrison, and Theodore Morrison; brother-in-law, Ray Cunningham; and many nieces and nephews.
The family extends special thanks to her caregivers from Home Sweet Home and Gallagher Home Care Services for their compassion and attentive care. Final arrangements are by Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, with interment at Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Per her wishes, there will be no public services.
