Julia Ann Mayer (Reiss) of Mt. Lebanon, formerly of Heidelberg, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 after celebrating her 88th birthday this past St. Patrick’s Day. Beloved wife of the late Walter Mayer and daughter of the late Emma (Wolf) and Joseph Reiss. She loved art, singing, was a devout Catholic, and loved to travel. Julia and her husband traveled to Europe 9 times, and around the United States camping in a pop-up camper with their dog Bo and two cats. For the past 10 years, Julia resided in Brookdale of Mt Lebanon where she was described by staff as a staple of the community. Julia was well loved and leaves behind her daughters Carol (Tom) Mullaney and Constance (Joy Gero) Mayer; grandchildren Sean and Victoria Mullaney. She was one of nine siblings and survived by Edward Reiss, Betty Klemmer, Claire Donohue and Kate Herman; also, many nieces and nephews. Private arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township, PA. Dear Carol &Constance, My Deepest Sympathy in the loss of you Dear Sweet Mother. I live in Heidelberg and over the years I have had the privilege of having several conversations with your Mother. When she was moving after yourFather passed I went with my Neighbor Holly Ziegler Rushofsky and I purchased several tea cups and saucers and some duck figurines, they are in my Curio with sever tea cups and saucers from my mother who has passed . Your Mother was always smiling and so pleasant when we spoke I really enjoyed the times I spoke with her. I’m sure you girls will miss her dearly, know that she is with you and in your heart everyday.

Constance and Carol, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and your family. Constance, I am hoping you and Joy remember me. I became good friends with your mom thru Mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, and she was a very special person in my life. I would take her to church and then she would have me over for a wonderful homemade dinner Saturday evening. You don't know how many bad days she got me through and we would pray together to the Blessed Mother. We also took some road trips to the store; she especially loved Trader Joe's. She would tell me all about her wonderful trips with your dad, and I remember her feline friend, Tara, too. I took some church friends of hers to visit her at The Devonshire and we had some great lunches together. I know that she was a Godsend to the people there and they will truly miss her as I will. I have thought so many times of her and wondered how she was doing. Tried to get a hold of her before Covid hit but could not seem to get a reply. She had such a wonderful voice, and I know she is singing with the Angels in Heaven. I hope all the great memories you have of your mom sustain you in this time of grief. I will never forget her or that beautiful smile. You are all in my thoughts and my prayers. God Bless you
