Kathleen M. Havel, age 77, of Canonsburg, PA, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2024, surrounded by family. Born on August 11, 1946, in Pittsburgh, PA, she is the daughter of the late Stanley and LaVerne Minucci.
Beloved wife of 58 years to the late John Paul Havel. Preceded in death by her brother Stanley Minucci, sister to Susan Rauch, and Rose Marie (Gary) DiBartolo. Cherished mother to Lisa (Kenn Prokopchak) Baxendell, John (Marilyn) Havel Jr., Dan (Kari) Havel, and Melissa (John McCartan) Havel. Loving grandmother to Troy Anthony (Alicia) Baxendell, Ryan Baxendell, Dylan Baxendell, and Haylee (Anthony) Cosgrove; Julia Havel and Braden Havel; Jillian Havel and Ella Havel, and Kylie Cook. Adoring great-grandmother to Lorenzo and Gianni Baxendell.
Kathleen will be remembered by all who loved her as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Kathleen’s dedication to her faith is “what always carried her through anything”. She treasured her family the most and was always cheering at her children’s and grandchildren’s school and sporting events. She loved watching sports on TV, especially football, and enjoyed collecting baseball cards. She had a passion for cooking delicious homemade meals and loved to host endless holiday dinners, birthdays, anniversaries, and graduation parties. Anyone who ever met Kathleen would say “your mom is so sweet; I just love her!” Her work history included waitressing, real estate and a secretary in the medical profession.
Kathleen’s entire family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Heartland Hospice and UPMC Strabane Woods for the exceptional care they provided for Kathleen.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday August 5th, 10 AM at St. Thomas More Church, Resurrection Parish, 126 Fort Couch Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15241. Interment will take place at Queen of HeavenCemetery where Kathleen will be laid to rest with her husband John.
Arrangements are entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, McMurray, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
