Kenneth P. Miles

  • On March 10, 2020

Kenneth P. Miles, 60, of Robinson Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife, daughter and son in law after a long battle with cancer. Ken was a driven professional with 32 years of service with Grinnell/Johnson Controls. His work ethic was unmatched. Ken loved his job and his time at work.

Ken was a kind and gentle man. He took extreme pride in his family, his wife Barbara, daughter Brandy Sacks, son in law Ken Sacks and his two most precious gifts, his grandchildren, Tauren Sacks (5) Taelyn Sacks (2). He loved to swim with his grandkids and attended every school play, concert and sporting event. His family was everything to Ken, a wonderful husband, dad and poppy.

Kens indomitable spirit encouraged his family and friends to always persist in the face of struggle and to never give up.

Kens spirit, his soul, his amazing ability to give will always be with us. Life will never be the same, but the world is better for the years my beloved Ken lived.

Rest in peace my love, until we can be together again.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 2 pm until 8 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 5405 Steubenville Pike, Robinson Township, PA 15136, (412) 787-1800. Please view and sign the family’s online guestbook at www.PittsburghCremation.com.

I send my deepest condolences to your family. Ken referred to me as Hose B and I called him Jaggerbush. We had many great conversations and venting sessions at work and I will truly miss that. I will always appreciate the 17 years that I got to know him. Give them the business up there Jaggerbush. You will be missed.

As soon as I started with Johnson Controls in 2019, Kenny accepted me with open arms. He immediately made me feel welcomed, providing me with support in my role. We had fun times together and his spirit was so high that I didn't even know he was battling with cancer. I loved his long white hair, looked so cool! Don't worry Kenny, I am still going to stay away from those donuts. Your buddy, Jahmiah.

I met Kenny on my first day at JCI and he made me feel welcome. He sat right behind me and shot “gum bands” over my head. He always made our team meetings fun joking around. Kenny will be greatly missed. My condolences to his wonderful family.

I’ve known Kenny for 22 years as a co-worker and friend and I am deeply heartbroken on his passing. Kenny was one of the people I looked up to most as I was growing up in the sprinkler business. I learned lots from him. Such a great guy whom was loved by all. Any kind word you can think of, describes Kenny. A few quotes and names we will remember Kenny by are “Jagger Bush” , “Where’s my Pipe?”, “Hey ya”, “ I’ll climb over this wall”. “ I’ll kick your ass”. I will miss you a lot Kenny.

Kenny will always be a big part of our Grinnell/SimplexGrinnell/Johnson Controls family - he was larger than life and more dedicated to work/this company than anyone I know - always willing and wanting to more and do whatever it took to get the job done. We will miss his mantra "I need more work - go sell something" and "why is the inspection department spending so much money". Above all else we will miss the pride and joy he couldn't hide while talking about his family - Barb, Brandy, Ken, Tauren, and Taelyn he beamed when he spoke of all of you and shared your photos. He was so proud to propose to you at Christmas. I can't imagine what you are going through and pray for each of, my heartfelt condolences go out to you. We are all better for having known Kenny. Give them hell on the other side my friend.

I moved to Pittsburgh in 2009 as an 18 year old starting my career at SimplexGrinnell. Moving a state away from my parents in Philadelphia with no support in the area aside from my significant other. Kenny has been my boss for these last 11 years and has truly supported me, emotionally, through my growing up transition to 30 years old. He gave me guidance from renting my first apartment to buying my first home, he showed me respect while teaching me to demand it myself, and gave me advice that will stay with me for the length of my life. I hit the mentor jackpot by total accident and I'm eternally grateful. Myself and my family are thankful to have known him for these much too short 11 years. Our heartfelt condolences go to his family.

My sincere condolences to the Miles family. I worked with Kenny for several years, both during Grinnell and most recently Johnson Controls. He was an extremely knowledgeable, dedicated employee. Most importantly though, you could always tell the love and passion Kenny had for his wonderful family. Rest in peace sir! Brian Allan

My deepest sympathy and condolences to the Miles family working with Kenny the past 20 years He was always there to help Me as an alarm tech when I needed assistance with sprinkler issues and customers needs. Especially on the cold winter days when sprinkler lines would freeze and break. Kenny would always return My call and say what’s going on and where are You at. He will be greatly missed

Dear Barb & Family, I'm am so sorry for you loss of Kenny he was a great Man. With everything Kenny had going on he was still worried about everyone else. The first thing he would ask me when I saw him at work was how my Dad is. I loved being around Kenny if I was in a bad mood I couldn't help, but laugh when he was around. He would shoot rubber bands across the room. We got a new employee and her name was Meghann and he didn't think that should be her name he said she should be Bridget or Brittany. Kenny made us all laugh so much and he will forever be in our hearts!! God Bless you and your family at this difficult time. Sending many prayers to you all!!
