Kevin McKeever, age 48, of Mt. Lebanon passed away peacefully with family by his side on February 28, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was the youngest of five boys, born to the late Bill and Dottie McKeever.

Loving fiancé of Christine Barry. Dear brother of Brian (Becky) McKeever, David McKeever, Chris (Jill) McKeever and the late Mike (surviving: Jamie) McKeever. Beloved uncle of Maddie, Lucy, Michael, Sam, Elizabeth, Ryan, Katie, Caroline, Parker, and Brooke. He is survived by his family and by more close friends than most have acquaintances.

Kevin was a proud bartender at The Mt. Lebanon Saloon for over 20 years, becoming as necessary to the foundation of the bar as the walls holding it up. As regulars and friends alike know, he was quick with a witty joke, with a drink, or with a piece from his endless arsenal of Pittsburgh sports knowledge.

His love for food and spirits was exemplified by his cooking, his bartending, and his expert recommendations. When he wasn’t creating something delicious, he was explaining exactly where to get it. A love for music, especially Pearl Jam, helped him through the darkest times, and a photo from his time meeting Eddie Vedder backstage was counted among his most prized possessions. He enjoyed sunrises from Mt. Washington and sunsets in his second home of Sea Isle City, New Jersey, and was a longtime member and golfer at the Chartiers Country Club.

Kevin changed the lives he touched, making them more interesting, more loving, and more fun. He had the rare gift of making those around him feel truly special. Ball-busting relentlessly, his jokes and jabs came with the understanding that he loved his friends and family fiercely. He was loved tenfold in return.

“I just wanted to be a normal guy with a normal job and do all of the fun things I wanted.”

Kevin was the life of every party and the friendliest face in any room. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 12 pm – 8 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Rd., McMurray, PA 15317, 724-260-5546. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 10 am at St. Thomas More, 126 Fort Couch Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15241.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pittsburgh Restaurant Workers Aid, honoring the profession that Kevin loved and that has been so negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kevin was an outstanding young man. I am blessed to have known and coached him. He was always upbeat and had a knack for keeping those around him upbeat as well. I remember sharing many laughs and a few heart to heart talks with Kevin over the years. My condolences to the McKeever Family. I hope that your loss and grieving are lessened even a little by knowing how positively Kevin touched the lives of all who were fortunate to know him. Kevin will forever be a bright spot in my career as a coach.
