Lawrence J. Koch, Jr.

Lawrence “Larry” John Koch Jr., 92, of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2025.  He was born January 15, 1933 in Pittsburgh to the late Lawrence Koch Sr. and Collette (Williamson) Koch.

Larry is survived by Janet, his loving wife of 65 years, sons Jim (Colleen) of Allison Park PA and Bob (Sherrie) of Upper St. Clair PA.  Larry was a wonderful grandfather to Amanda (Zack), Tyler, Matt (Lauren), Ryan and Josh (Alexus).  He is also survived by long time dear friend Dan Gildea.

A graduate of North Catholic High School and Duquesne University, Larry served in the U. S. Army in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He worked as a loan officer at Potter Bank, which later became PNC and retired as an Assistant Vice President after 35 years.

Larry was known affectionately as the “chief” and was an avid ice hockey fan having season tickets to the Pittsburgh Hornets (Penguins) for many years.  He also coached ice hockey for Bishop Canevin, South Park and North Catholic High Schools for 25 years and enjoyed attending his son’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. Larry was a member of St. Margaret’s of Scotland Parish where he served in the Nocturnal Adoration Society since its inception.

Special thanks to St. Clair Hospital and Gallagher Hospice for their exceptional care during his final days.  In the near future, a memorial mass will be held at St. Margaret’s of Scotland.  Any contributions in Larry’s memory can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
