Layla M. Dayton, age 20, of Kennedy Township, PA, passed away surrounded by family and in her mother’s arms on Friday, October 11, 2024. Born on May 4, 2004 in Pittsburgh, PA, she is the loving daughter of Sandy Dayton; cherished granddaughter of Ed and Kathy Dayton; niece of Sarah (Mike) Rudolph and Rebecca (Justin) McCartney; honorary granddaughter of George and Billie Dayton; cousin of Ian Rudolph, also tremendously loved and  missed by many family members and friends.

While Layla’s journey wasn’t always easy, she always remained sassy and strong. She took every health obstacle that life threw at her head on. She was your true definition of a bad ass.  She often can be heard before even being seen with her famous “HELLO!”
She was sassy and spunky and had the best smile. People gravitated towards her because of her “amazingly obnoxious” personality. She was the epitome of sugar and spice.
Layla loved a good day out, shopping at Target, and anytime spent with her mum. She loved music and, even in her wheelchair, had the best dance moves.
She attended the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children where she developed many special friendships and thrived with the guidance of so many staff. She loved her school days and especially the bus rides! Layla also lived at PSC(Pediatric Specialty Care) for the last two years where she continued to win over more hearts. She was met there with care and compassion and it really felt like home to Layla.
Layla’s family is forever grateful to the staff at the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children, Pediatric Specialty Care at Hopewell, McGuire Memorial, and Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 1:00pm-8:00pm and on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 10:00am-12:00pm followed by at 12:00pm funeral service at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care 5405 Steubenville Pike Robinson Township. PA 15136. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Layla to Western Pennsylvania School For Blind Children 201 N. Bellefield Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15213 at http://wpsbcfoundation.org.

She will forever be remembered and loved. I can still hear Mum. Mum. Mum. And Sandy patiently answering. She added so much life to all who knows her..

U could fill the power of love when Sara and Layla would look at eachother. Layla has the most loving, supportive and compassionate family ever. Praying for the family and friends that will miss her.

I especially appreciated Layla's friendship with her VBS helper, Brook, and hope that is one of many loved ones she is now with. It was a privilege to see her aunt, Becca, do such an amazing job in that role. My sympathy and love to her family, friends, and community.
