Lester Eugene Exton, Sr.

Lester Eugene Exton, Sr., 74, of Vanderbilt, PA passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.

He was the son of the late Charles Exton and Elizabeth “Betty” (Heltebran) Exton Gunther born on November 24, 1948 in Darragh, PA.  Throughout his career, Lester worked in various jobs, from manufacturing for Volkswagen to hazard management and heavy machinery operations. Upon his retirement, he started working on the farm. Lester loved the outdoors, drinking lots of Pepsi, working on the farm and tending to the trees and animals. He was a loving father and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his mother, Lester is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Ellen Smith Exton, their four children David  Exton and his wife Rose of Greensburg, PA, Lester Exton Jr. of Maysville, NC, Kimberly Exton of Pleasant Hill, MO, Michael Exton and his wife Brenna of Vanderbilt, PA, eight grandchildren, Katrina Exton, David Exton Jr., Benjamin Exton, Dakota Exton, Daniel Exton, Laurel DeLapp, Natalie DeLapp, Brianna Exton, one great granddaughter, Emma Exton, his brother, Charles “Chuck” Exton Jr., as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Lester was preceded in death by his father, Charles, his stepfather, Dennis Gunther, and sister, Sandra Miller. Per his wishes, the interment will be private. Arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, McMurray, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests planting  a tree in his memory.
