Lewis “Louie” DeWalt of Sewickley, PA, went to his heavenly home on January 8, 2026, surrounded by love.

Lewis was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents. He is survived by his beloved and cherished mother, Marsha DeWalt; his sister, Theresea Anderson; and his brother, Bill DeWalt. He was the adored nephew of Bea and Dan Caulfield, and a beloved friend to the staff and residents of the Verland Foundation.

Born on July 21, 1983, to Marsha DeWalt, Lewis was born with Down syndrome and a heart condition. Neither ever stopped him from showing the world that he was here to touch lives and love everyone he met.

Lewis lived at the Verland Foundation for 18 years. During his time there, he discovered a love for horseback riding, working in the barn, and learning new skills—all while making friends wherever he went. His smile, laughter, and hugs could turn any day into the best day. There wasn’t a bad day that couldn’t be fixed by a “hug from our Louie”.

Lewis loved Sesame Street, Connect 4, helping out, enjoying good food, and relaxing.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Family Hospice for their compassionate care, and to everyone at the Verland Foundation for their love and support.

There will be no funeral services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Verland Foundation, 212 Iris Road, Sewickley, PA 15143.
