Lillian Boyle, 99 of Kane Scott Township, PA formerly of Midland, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 19, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Alfred J. Boyle. Lillian was born December 2, 1924 in Midland, PA, to the late Pava Baich and Peter Vorkapich. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Mildred Devich, Mary Yanich, Mike Vorkapich, Daniel Vorkapich, Nick Vorkapich, and George Vorkapich.
Lillian is the loving mother of Jo Ann Boyle and Pauline McIntosh; adoring grandmother of (6): Brianne Matteo (Ryan Huber-Husband), Augustine Matteo, Joseph (Rebecca) Caruso, Alton Boyle, Rebecca Boyle, and the late Thaddaeus McIntosh.
She was blessed with 6 great-grandchildren: Giada Huber-Matteo, Santino Huber-Matteo, Octavian McIntosh, Adrianna Caruso, Isabella Caruso, and Elan Caruso; 2 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Lillian was best known for her warm smile, kind heart, gentle soul, and infamous sweet tooth. As a young girl, growing up on a working farm, she was responsible for helping her family with the daily chores. It was her responsibility to milk the cows twice a day and carry the buckets to the spring house, which was quite a feat for someone her size. By evening, the family enjoyed playing cards and talking about the weather, which mattered a great deal to the farmers. Her favorite toy was a ball and she would explain her fantastic ability to adeptly snag flying objects from midair even at the age of 99.
Lillian eventually married Alfred and they lived in the blue-collar steel mill town of Midland. Lillian worked in the mill during World War II. After the war, she and Alfred welcomed and raised two girls, Pauline & Jo Ann. Lillian, an avid animal lover, also had many dogs. After her girls left the house, Lillian would go on to dedicate her time to helping raise her grandchildren. She would help with the household chores. She would bring them milk, perfectly balled and seeded watermelon, her famous baked goods like pizzelles, pinwheels and butterballs and even more famous deviled eggs.
After her grandchildren became adults, Lillian remained active in the community and quickly became known as the sweet, cute lady who walks all over town and has a smile for just about everyone she meets. In the colder months, she enjoyed her walks in the old gym of what was once Midland High school. She enjoyed visits with her family and continued making her delectable treats and sweets.
Following the pandemic, Lillian moved to an Assisted Living facility and was eventually placed in long-term care at Kane, Scott Township, where she remained until her passing. During her time there, she enjoyed frequent visits from her family and her great grandkids.
No matter where she was or who she was with, Lillian’s kind soul was expressed through her bright blue eyes. She was as sweet as the treats that she enjoyed so very much. Her passing was as peaceful and graceful as was her life. If you’re looking for the secret to longevity, then take page 99 from Lillian’s book that says to treat others as you would like to be treated, harbor no ill feelings or will, and always eat dessert first. Rest in peace, our beautiful and sweet Lillian.
The family will not be having a service but eventually Lillian will be interred at Beaver Cemetery next to her husband, Alfred.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Beaver County Humane Society to honor Lillian’s love for animals.
