Early on the morning of October 11th, 2019, Linda Petre, of McMurray, passed into the next life and was reunited with her parents, Jack M. and Kathryn Hillman, some loved ones, and several dogs who we are sure couldn’t wait for her return. Here on earth she leaves behind four siblings, Suzanne (Carl) Broberg, Holly (Dan) Bradley, Martha (George) Bateson, and John (Beth) Hillman. She has two children, Jamie Petre and Victoria L. Petre Gregg, two grandchildren, Kathryn LaMark and Emily LaMark, and the most devoted and loving husband a woman could ever ask for, Robert Petre. They have been married for over 50 years.

She waited until the family that had gathered to say goodbye had all dispersed for the night and passed quietly and peacefully overnight in her home. Born November 17, 1946, she lived through 72 years of adventure and love. She no longer suffers from cancer, and that is our peace.

In her life time, she loved deeply those around her, impacting their lives for the better simply by caring for them. She was a voracious reader, a passion she passed down to her children and grandchildren. She liked bowling with her husband and her friends. She was a dedicated member of the Martha Washington Quilt Guild.

She hand crafted over 80 quilts in her life time, for the babies in the family or simply to give someone a hand stitched piece of her soul, and she absolutely loved every stitch. We will cherish these quilts forever.

In 2006 she traveled with her husband on a three month road trip around the 48 contiguous states. When they got home they purchased a camper, so they could continue to have adventures together. She loved camping, and relaxing at campgrounds with a good book and a dog on her lap.

We will always remember her humming around the house, baking, cleaning, sewing – she was full of life and song. We imagine, on her way to heaven this morning, she hummed “on the road again”. What a journey!

Until we meet again, Linda, we love you endlessly. Your memory will be a blessing to everyone you met.

Friends and family will gather at the Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Center, Route 19, McMurray, PA 15317 on Sunday October 13th from 12-5PM and Monday October 14th from 2-4PM & 7-9PM. You are welcome to join us to say goodbye and admire a few of her quilts.

The Funeral will be Tuesday, October 15th  at 10 AM at the funeral home with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Gardens.
