Lori Arend, Pittsburgh, PA, age 61, passed away on Saturday, October 16 2021 after a courageous 3+ year battle with Brain Cancer (Glioblastoma). Born to the late Richard and Sally (Cumer) Arend on June 25, 1960. Survived by fiancé and love of her life, Joe Rieger, children Valerie Burgess (Bryan), R.J. Mastic, Maddie Mastic, and sister Lisa Anderson (Bill). The loving Grammy to Aubryn, Tulio, Vanagan, Garlyn, and Mylo. Lori was loved and will be remembered by her many nieces, nephews and extended cousins. Lori attended La Roche College and graduated with honors at the age of 44. She then completed her Masters in Social Work at the University of Pittsburgh. Her passion in life was to help others. While working as the Director of Counseling Services at LaRoche University she did just that. She impacted not only the students that would seek her help but nearly every person she had the opportunity to meet. She enjoyed traveling and adventures both near and far, from hikes to cruises and everything in between. There was nothing that could stop her from living on her own terms.
Goodnight we love you too, see you in the morning, you’re the BEST mum!

I am so incredibly grateful I had the opportunity to meet Lori and know her during our time in school together at LaRoche. We were both single Mom’s back in school as non-traditional students. She was a wonderful person and I am so sorry for your deep loss. I know she will watch over us all. Michelle Bushée
