Lorraine Denise Cruz

Lorraine Denise Cruz, age 74, of Crafton, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026.

Born on August 14, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Lorraine was the beloved daughter of the late Daniel and Theresa DeGregory. She was the devoted wife of the late Franz Cruz, with whom she shared 32 wonderful years of marriage.

Lorraine was the loving mother of Michael (Debbie) Cruz, Kimberly Cruz, and Nicole Cruz. She was a cherished sister to Jean Ann, Mary Ellen and Frances Olsen. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Delfina and Thomas, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Lorraine embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. She loved to travel and explore new places, was an avid reader, and considered herself a true foodie who enjoyed discovering and sharing great meals. She had a deep appreciation for music, especially classical and doo-wop, and never missed an opportunity to enjoy a good musical.

Above all, Lorraine treasured her family. She was an enthusiastic and devoted grandmother whose love knew no bounds. Known for her quick wit, dry sense of humor, and remarkable patience, Lorraine had a way of making those around her feel supported and encouraged. She inspired her children and grandchildren to pursue their dreams and always reminded them that they could accomplish anything they set their minds to.

A tough cookie with an independent spirit, Lorraine truly marched to the beat of her own drum and encouraged her children to do the same. One of her favorite sayings was, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step,” a philosophy she lived by and passed on to those she loved.

Family and friends are welcome to attend Mass on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 10:00 am,  at Ascension Catholic Church, 114 Berry St, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lorraine’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
