Lucy Guskey, 92, of Robinson Township, joined her beloved husband Charles (Toyee) in Heaven on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12, 2024. Born in Pittsburgh on February 29, 1932, she is the daughter of the late Joseph and Juliana Birbilas. Loving and devoted mother of Audrey Guskey (Jim Maochi), Charles D. Guskey, Gerald (Susan) Guskey, and Jean (Rich) Guskey-Fuchs. Grandmother of Ed (Jenn) Federouch, Evonne (Andy) Beasom, Zachary (Emily) Guskey, Jordan Guskey, Gabrielle Fuchs, and Samuel Fuchs; great-grandmother of Jake, Luke, and Cassidy Federouch, Blake Beasom, and Elliot and Julia Beth Guskey.  Born on Leap Year day, she enjoyed being the same age as her children and grandchildren at some point in their lives.

Lucy’s quiet strength started with her upbringing from her hardworking and faith-filled Lithuanian parents.  She was the youngest of four siblings whom she cherished (Stephie, Leo and Aggie).  She was fiercely smart, studying accounting, until a handsome witty young man named Toyee returned from the Korean War.  (He always said he married the prettiest girl in Esplen.)  Lucy considered motherhood her vocation, dedicated to raising four children and their children with unconditional and gentle love. Being extremely well-read, in life Lucy would listen, laugh, and learn.  At the core of the pure love between Lucy and Toyee was their faith, with the rosary a constant in their lives.  The family takes peaceful comfort knowing they are together again.

Friends are welcome on Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 3-5 pm and 6-8 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 5405 Steubenville Pike, Robinson Township, PA 15136. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 17th at 10 am at Archangel Gabriel Parish, Holy Trinity Church, 5718 Steubenville Pike, McKees Rocks, PA 15136. Burial will follow at St. Casimir Cemetery, Whitehall, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Pittsburgh www.ccpgh.org.
