Margaret Johnston Ames, age 70, of Robinson Township, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020. Beloved wife and mother. Whether you knew her as Peggy or as Maggie, you were surely touched by her kind heart and gentle demeanor. She truly enjoyed life and genuinely liked people. The last 20 years of her life saw her confined first to a wheelchair and finally to a bed, but her spirit never faltered. Her thoughts were first and foremost of others, especially those she loved. We grieve her loss and will do our best to live up to her legacy. Sadly missed by her husband of 30 years, George Polard, sons Michael and Jeffrey (Toni), grandson Leo and brother Robert Johnston (Lynda). Family and friends will gather on Friday, March 13, 2020 from 1:00-3:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care 5405 Steubenville Pike Robinson Township, PA 15136. In lieu of flowers, Peggy requested that donations be made to the MS Society.

Many of my earliest and fondest memories are of being at Aunt Peggy's house in Greentree and in Pennsbury. I'm so sorry to hear that we've lost such a strong, wonderful woman. She was my mother's best friend for many years. Deepest love and sympathies to George, Mike, Jeff, Toni, Leo, and all of their friends and family.

Peggy and me. We were not soul mates. We had differences, but those differences complemented each other. Where I was weak, she was strong, and vice versa.Together we had an identity. Now she is gone, and what we had together is no more. I can only aspire to regain some of what she gave to me and shared with me that made us so strong. I hope I can live up to the example you set for me, Sweetheart. Your loving husband, George.

We butted heads a lot. It’s because we were so alike. Leo loved his Gram Maggie. She loved everyone around her and will be deeply missed. Toni and her entire family loved her. I’ll think about you every day Mom. We’ll be there for George too. I know you’ll always worry. Your baby boy will always love you. Rest In Peace my sweet Mama. ????

I've always considered Peggy as a friend and I am sorry that she is gone. Mike and Jeff, always remember the wonderful times with your Mom. She was always happiest when Leo came to visit. George, I am so sorry for your loss.
