Margaret L. Zollars

Margaret (Peggy) L. (Bateson) Zollars, of Jefferson, Pa passed away peacefully July 6, 2026.

Born December 13, 1946, in Oak Forest, Pa to the late Wylie D. and Margaret (Kerr) Bateson, Sr., Peggy was a life long Greene County resident.

On April 10, 1965, Peggy married her soulmate, Glenn A. Zollars and together they built a beautiful life and family with their six children: Michelle (Charles) Dean, Greg (Joanna) Zollars, Beth (John) Hillman, Wesley (Jillian) Zollars, Megan (Craig) Ostrich and Jeremy Zollars.

“Mom” was her most cherished title in life, until she was promoted to being a grandma to Dustin (Brittany) Dean, Chelsea Dean (Jay) , Isaac Dean, Ian Zollars, Gavin Husenits, Laramie Zollars, Alison Ostrich, Landen Ostrich, Jaxson Ostrich, Ashlynn Ostrich, Tucker Zollars and Nash Zollars. In addition to her grandchildren, she was a beloved great grandmother to Brody, Abram, Sawyer and Arlen. When it came to her grandchildren, “no” was rarely said and an abundance of love and patience was always given.

For several years Peggy worked at Rolling Meadows and Greene County Memorial Hospital as a CNA where she loved caring for the seniors that crossed her path.

Peggy is also survived by her sisters, Lynette (Walt) Richards, Denise (Buddy) Hawk and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her brothers Wylie (Dave), Kermit, Stanley, and Phil Bateson, her sisters Joetta Reed and Annabelle Haines, her loving husband, Glenn, and her youngest son, Jeremy.

Peggy lived with unwavering faith, loved without condition, and leaves behind a legacy that will continue through the family she cherished and the countless lives she touched. She never ran out of love to give, was always ready for a long phone call to catch up, and never missed an opportunity to prepare her family’s favorite meals. She also loved spending time at the beach, where she found peace and joy, and never turned down a good card game—especially when it was shared with her dear friend, Barb Wise. For many years to come, stories of Peggy’s humor, kindness, and unforgettable antics will continue to bring smiles to those who knew and loved her.

Peggy was a steadfast believer in Christ and the pain of losing someone as special as her can only be softened by knowing she is now rejoicing in Heaven with those who have gone before her and that we, too, will be reunited with her again someday.

Peggy’s family would like to express their gratitude to her hospice team for their compassionate care, kindness, and support during this difficult time.
