Marilyn Butler, 72, of Naples, FL and formerly of Bethel Park, PA, passed away on February 19, 2026. She was surrounded by family as she peacefully departed after a nearly three-year battle with cancer.

Beloved spouse of James “Jim” Butler for 48 years. Loving mother to Lauren (Michael) Gleason, Lindsey (Ian) Walker and the late Jill Butler. She was known as “GrandMare” to her four grandchildren – Charlotte Gleason (10) and Marion (4), Malcolm (4) and Sebastian Walker (2). She is also survived by her sisters and brother – Margaret Leschak, Kathleen McBarron, Patricia Gingerich and Joseph McBarron.

Born in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Shirley McBarron. Marilyn attended Edinboro University, where she majored in education and fell in love with Jim. She spent several years as a teacher, but her calling was as a stay-at-home mom raising their three beautiful daughters, of whom she was so proud. She was an avid reader and excellent baker – guests of the Butler home were usually greeted with fresh-baked cookies.

Despite living in Pittsburgh most of her life, Marilyn’s favorite place in the world was on the beach. This prompted a later in life move to Naples, FL where she and Jim were able to enjoy the ocean, sun and sand every day. She will be remembered for her kindness, intelligence and easygoing attitude. Marilyn could talk with anyone and make them feel immediately comfortable. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, but we know that she is at peace and happy to be reunited with her youngest daughter, Jill.

Guests will be received on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 from 3:00  to 7:00 PM at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine Laboure Parish, St. Louise de Marillac 320 McMurray Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15241 at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 26, 2026 with a luncheon following immediately. Everyone please meet at the church.

A private burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
