Mario Ungarino, age 66, of Avalon, PA, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family and friends on Friday, July 30, 2021 after his battle with ALS. Just like he dealt with all his experiences in life, Mario managed his illness with strength and grace.

Mario was born in Naples, Italy, on December 25, 1954 and is the son of the late Pasquale and Rita Ungarino. Beloved husband of Karen; loving father of Andrew (Sophie Lee), Gina (David Sanchez), Nicholas and Anna Maria; brother of Alfredo, Annie, Vincent and Anella; also, many nieces and nephews. Mario was a friend to all and touched the lives of everyone he came across with his heartwarming smile and kind spirit. He had knowledge of all things wine and was a lover of music, especially classic rock. He cared for his family and friends with loyalty and devotion, and his legacy will be remembered and lives on through all his loved ones. Finché c’è vita c’è speranza.

Family and friends will be welcome for a gathering on Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 12:30 pm until 4 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 5405 Steubenville Pike, Robinson Township, PA 15136. Memorial contributions in Mario’s name may be made to ALS Association of Western PA at www.webwpawv.alsa.org
