Marsha Ann Townsend

Marsha Ann Townsend, 83, of North Strabane, Pennsylvania, formerly of Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Born on July 24, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri, Marsha was the daughter of the late Wayne and Jenny Buerer.

Marsha was the beloved wife of George “Beaver” Robert Townsend who preceded her in death. She was a devoted and loving mother to Misty (Michael) Doy and Laurie (Michael) Reis. She is also survived by her sister, Dana (Curt) Holbrook. Marsha was a proud and loving grandmother to Jacob (Kiki) Reis, Michael Reis, Ian (Lex) Townsend, Felix Sweet, Dwayne Reis, and Jessica (Andy) Reis. She was also blessed with many cherished nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marsha was preceded in death by her brother, Samuel Buerer, her sister, Paula Linter, and her beloved grandson, Brendan Sweet.

Marsha was a wonderful mother who prioritized education for her daughters, instilling in them a lifelong love of learning. Her greatest joy and truest passion were found in loving, encouraging, and supporting her beautiful grandchildren, whose lives were enriched by her care and devotion. Fresh out of school, Marsha began her career as the third employee hired by John Swanson at SASI. She faithfully served as the company’s accountant, remaining with the organization as it grew into ANSYS. She found great joy in her work throughout her career and later embraced retirement with the same appreciation and enthusiasm.

Marsha will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her loving family, dear friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In accordance with Marsha’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. She requested that family and friends honor her memory by taking time to read to a child or spend gentle time with a rescue animal.

Marsha’s daughters would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the family, friends, and caregivers who filled Marsha’s life with love, laughter, and joy. Their kindness and support will always be remembered with deep appreciation.
