Mary Del Brady, age 75, of Shadyside, formerly of McKeesport, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026.  Born August 19, 1950, in Baltimore, MD, Mary Del was the beloved daughter of the late Frank and Helen Del Signore.  She shared two children, Matthew D. Brady and Jennifer (BJ) Pendleton, with the late Dennis J. Brady.  She was a loving grandmother, aka “Nonna,” to her five grandsons – Tyler, Logan, Brady, Grayson and Dezi – who brought her immense pride, joy and laughter.

Mary Del was a devoted mother and family member, loyal friend, and accomplished professional.  She held a BA in English Literature from Slippery Rock University and an Executive MBA (EMBA) from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business.  She considered herself a “serial entrepreneur” who actively sought to interweave and connect family, friends, colleagues and others into an ever-growing community through personal events and professional circles, such as the Point Park Super Bowl crowd, Vincent’s Pizza gatherings, her NAWBO sorority sisters, EMBA classmates, Pittsburgh’s fledgling Bio Buds and later tech & biotech community, La Famiglia, as well as book clubs and theater groups.  She enjoyed “breaking bread” over a bottle of wine, finding common ground among individuals with different opinions, taking spontaneous road trips, and traveling throughout the country and overseas – with Italy as a favored destination.

Mary Del was a passionate champion of education, equal rights, economic development & small business, women in business, and other salient issues throughout her life.  She was recognized by corporate and industry heads, the City of Pittsburgh, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the White House as a leading voice and representative for women in business and small businesses more broadly.  She was cited in media publications as diverse as the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and The Wall Street Journal, lauded by civic, industry & political organizations, and even appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show.  She believed deeply in empowering and opening doors for others but also acknowledged that success was impossible without a supporting cast, particularly “her Denny” (in the early years), Matt, Jennifer and the family’s beloved Josie.

Mary Del is also survived by her siblings James (Sandy), Chris, Tom (Leann) and Terry Del Signore.  She was preceded in death by her sisters Helene (Bob) Grant and Fran (Harry) Sell, and by her brother David (Janet) who is survived by his wife Susan.  Mary Del is lovingly remembered as a “Super Mom who could do it all” by many cherished nieces and nephews, and countless surrogate sons and daughters that she shepherded and mentored through her children and extended family.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made in care of Matthew Brady, 100 Denniston St., Unit 61, Pittsburgh, PA 15206.

As Mary Del was a strong supporter of women-owned businesses, her final arrangements were entrusted to a funeral home led by women: Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township, PA.

Matt and Jennifer, I was saddened and surprised to hear that your mom passed away, and I'll always cherish the guidance and support Mary Del had lent to my gallery business. Talking about life and work over a glasses of wine, I grew to respect her as the entrepreneurial force that she was. :-) Above all, she was a great listener and a genuinely kind person. I have fondly thought of her many times over the years. She was so proud of her family. All my best to you as you deal with her loss. Warmly, Melanie Werner

As a former NAWBO newbie, I met Mary del and a host of other amazing women business owners when the Pittsburgh Chapter was formed. As NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) grew in local prominence, she showed us her first pair of designer jeans laughing that she felt she could no longer go to the grocery store without being recognized and that she was representing all of us - as if the woman could look bad in anything! A few of us NAWBO alumni met for brunch (2017?) at her hotel on 5th reconnecting with the same warmth as so many years ago - and in a place that personified her charm and elegance. That smile, that style, will forever be missed.
