Mary J. Eberhardt (née Finley) of Franklin Park, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully surrounded by love on March 27th, 2026. On Grounds Hog’s Day, February 2nd, 1927, Mary was born and lived a life defined by faith, family, and devoted service to her community.

A bright child, she skipped the second grade and learned her ABCs before school on a beloved toy table. She recalled penny candy at the drug store and Sunday streetcar rides to her German grandparents. At 14, she began working at the local grocery.

After working at Alcoa, Mary met John Eberhardt through a charmingly arranged first date-his aunt and brother called pretending to be John. They were married on May 28, 1949. Mary always said falling in love with John was the smartest thing she ever did. Mary and John shared 51 years of marriage and raised twin daughters Susanne “Sue” and Sandra Ann “Sandy.” Mary served as Secretary of Franklin Park Borough for 26 years.

Faith was the foundation of Mary’s life. She attended church regularly, worked for her congregation and turned to prayer in every season. When Mary was asked the meaning of life, she replied “To me the meaning of life is ‘living! Life is a lifetime of living with God, with family and with memories. Life is made up of what we make it.”

Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Sue Snyder, her parents, Mary and George Finley, and her brothers George (Mary) and Dave (Lois) Finley. She is survived by her daughter Sandy Carchidi Major (Jamie), Bob Snyder, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

April 18, 2026 the family will laugh together at her Celebration of Life held at Franklin Park Baptist church, 2470 Nicholson Road, Sewickley PA. 10:00am visitation and 11:00am will start the celebration. Memorial donations may be made to Franklin Park Baptist Church.

Arrangements entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township.

Dearest Sandy and Jamie, We are so sorry for your sadness at your Mom's passing. But we also know that you had good times with her often in her golden years, and we're glad that you were there to see her and hold her in her final moments. She is in a better and more glorious place in the presence of the Lord Jesus now. She's praying for her beloved family.

We have all lost a wonderful and funny sister in Christ. She shared the joy of the Lord with everyone she met. Mary will be missed and I for one will miss and cherish the time I had with her. The wisdom and laughter she shared with me but most of all the love. Until my room is ready, “It’s so nice we had this time together “. Love you Mary! Debbie
