Mary Joan McKenna (Malloy and O’Malley), following a temporary residency in Sun City, Florida, Mary, a diehard Steeler and Penguin fan, returned to her lifelong home in Pittsburgh and died on May 3, 2022 at age 95 after a loving and adventurous life. Beloved wife of the late Charles McKenna and widow to Aloysius Malloy and Regis O’Malley, loved and cherished mother of Brian Malloy (Jackie), Maureen O’Neill (Bob), Colleen O’Malley, and Kevin O’Malley (Kathy). Treasured and honored grandmother of Robert O’Neill, Jr. (Maya), Mara Fisher (Scott), Bryan O’Neill (Jaime), Christopher Malloy (Celeste), Meghan Malloy, Connor Malloy, Jennifer Storino (Mark), Diana Emery (Jordan), Kaitlyn O’Malley, and Kayla O’Malley. Proud and forever supportive great-grandmother of Reilly O’Neill, Maizy Shook, Isabella and Nicholas O’Neill, Cavan, Calleigh, and Reagan Fisher, Jameson,  Teagan, and Graysen O’Neill, Isla, Tenley, and Leland Emery, Giana and Mark Storino. Preceded in death by her brother, John “Jack” Scholl, and survived by her close and treasured cousins, Rose McHugh and Mary Ellen Ness and the McKenna family.

Mary was a retired physical therapist assistant at Kane Hospital for years where she enjoyed the respect and friendship of co-workers beyond her employment years. Mary was a devoted and loving mother, who emphasized family and was a devoted fan of her children and grandchildren and did her best to never miss a function or sporting event. Mary devoted herself and time to her children through good and hard times and never lost sight of keeping her family as the centerpiece of her life. The world was a better place with Mary in it and she lived with the principle of knowing that if you could make one life breathe easier, then you succeeded. She will always be remembered by her family, friends, and co-employees as a gracious, pleasant, and compassionate person who thought of others before herself.

Friends and family are welcome on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 4:00-8:00pm at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care 5405 Steubenville Pike Robinson Township, PA 15136.
