Mary Lou Sullivan, 81, of Milford, PA passed away on July 29th.  She had most recently been a resident of Sunrise Senior Living of Upper St. Clair, PA.

Born in Meadville, PA, she was the daughter of Matthew and Jennie Benkovich of Marienville, PA, where Mary spent most of her school years.  She was a majorette, a member of the high school band and active in cheerleading.  Following a family move to Connecticut, she graduated from Killingly High School in Danielson in 1960, after which she attended airline school in Hartford.  She then moved to New York City to work as a reservation agent for United Airlines. During that time, she met and married William G. Sullivan, who, in addition to her parents, preceded her in death.

Mary and Bill also resided in San Francisco in the early 1970’s.  However, they returned to NYC, and eventually retired to Milford.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Laura Sullivan, and granddaughter Brianna, both of Milford; a sister Nancy (Stephen) Rupert of Venetia, PA; nieces Jessica (Bradley) Lehman, of Winter Garden, FL and Cheryl Rupert (Michael Ruzicka) of Bethel Park, PA; grandnieces, Mackenzie Lehman and Daisy Ruzicka; and grandnephew Jace Ruzicka.

In lieu of flowers the family is suggesting that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association of Pennsylvania (www.alz.org/pa).  A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Mary Lou—May you rest in peace!! To her family, I grew up with her in Marienville. She was 4 years older than me but we were together a lot. Jennie and my aunt Bette were best friends and we were at Bette’s quite often. Great memories!! I’m sorry that I didn’t keep in touch over the years. I have some photos somewhere of the 2 of us. If I find them I will share with the family via Nancy. Jane and I send our condolences. Denny Covert
