Mary Marsh Biernesser, 37, of Mt. Washington, passed away on June 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 12, 1989, Mary brought light, laughter, and joy to everyone around her. She had an extraordinary gift for finding humor in everyday life and making even ordinary moments feel special. Mary spent most of her school years in the Fox Chapel Area School District and graduated from Massanutten Academy in Woodstock, Virginia. She built a career in the hospitality industry, working at high-end restaurants in both Pittsburgh and St. Petersburg, Florida. With her signature warmth and wit, she often reminded those around her, “Not all who wander are lost.”

Mary had a rare charisma and a loyal, spirited personality that drew people to her. She formed deep, lasting friendships wherever she went and had an uncanny ability to read a room, lift spirits, and make everyone feel seen, valued, and important. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving mother, Margaret M. Marsh; her devoted uncle Robert “Rob” M. Marsh (Tracey) and their children Tim and Bennett, all of whom she thought of as her core family; her uncle William “Bill” M. Marsh (Stefanie) and their children Stephen, Becky, Emily, Sam, and Beth. In death, she is reunited with her beloved grandparents, Bill and Polly Marsh, whom she deeply loved.  She will be profoundly missed.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Animal Friends of Pittsburgh in Mary’s honor. https://thinkingoutsidethecage.org/donate

We are all here on earth for a season, some shorter than others-but when we know Jesus Christ as our Lord & our Savior we are ready to leave whenever God decides it’s time- knowing that you accepted Jesus is truly the most defining moment in your life & gives us all peace in our hearts knowing you truly are in a better place!
