Mary Mete Marino, age 99 of Robinson Township, formerly of Crafton Heights, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 18, 2022. She was born May 31, 1923 in Pittsburgh and was the daughter of Giovanni and Maria Mete, the youngest of their 8 children. Loving mother of Raymond (Diane) Marino, Cynthia (Pete) Citriniti and the late Bernard Marino; grandmother of Remo and Christopher Marino, Lisa (Chris Kocher) Citriniti, Gina (Jason) Van Jura, Louis Marino, Maria (Adam) Clements, Vincent (Sophy) Citriniti, Juliana (Tom) Kaczorowski; great-grandmother of Dominic Marino, Adelina and Lily Van Jura, Camila Clements, and Lucy Kocher.

She grew up in a tight knit community of Italian families in the Uptown section of Pittsburgh, PA. Mary married the love of her life, Remo Marino and then welcomed their first child, Bernard (Bernie), followed by their son Raymond and then daughter, Cynthia (Cindy). The Marino family resided in Crafton Heights. In 1960, Mary was widowed when a tragic accident took the life of her beloved husband. She continued to raise her three children on her own while running a hair salon out of her home. Anyone who knew Mary will know that the most important thing to her was family.

She was the matriarch of her family, and she was unbreakable. She weathered every storm with a resilience, drive, and grace that she passed on to her children and grandchildren. Mary doted on all her grandchildren and was an integral part of their lives. She took time with each grandchild to build memories like taking each into town on their very own day to go to the arts festival with her, playing catch with them in her front yard, teaching them how to play cards, and most importantly, creating and culturing a family who will always be indebted to her values, wit, and sense of humor. Mary was the foundation of her family, and her direction and love will leave that core strong and steady even in her absence. She will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her, however, not a day will go by where her legacy is not reflected by the ones she cherished.

Friends are welcome on Sunday, November 20, 2022, from 1-3 and 6-8 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 5405 Steubenville Pike, Robinson Township, PA 15136 (412) 787-1800.
