Micah Richard Miskis, of Pittsburgh, PA, born April 1, 2023, aged 18 months, passed away on October 12, 2024 in the loving arms of his parents, Melanie Ondek and Jeffrey Miskis.

Along with his parents, he is survived by his grandparents: Vincent (Deborah) Miskis and Richard (Carol) Ondek; uncle, Christopher (Kelly) Miskis; aunt, Amy Miskis; and cousins, Ilya Miskis and Ingrid Miskis. He also leaves his beloved pets Kevin (dog), Pinot, Sophie, and Murphy (cats), and Hans (chicken).

Micah was born prematurely at 26 weeks and spent 6 months in the NICU where he was diagnosed with severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia. Requiring 24/7 supplemental oxygen and ongoing hospital admissions throughout his life, Micah is the epitome of resilience—never once letting the complicated nature of his life interrupt his joyful spirit.

More deeply connected than anyone you’ll ever know, Micah has a special knack for peering into your soul with his beautiful eyes before sharing his radiant smile or reaching out to grab your face. While he never let anyone finish reading a book, he did make sure all the pages were turned in a timely manner. Dancing fruits, coffee cups, and binkies were a few of his favorite things.

Micah is truly remarkable. Despite the constant struggle he endured to simply breathe, he rarely let it show, instead offering everyone around him boundless joy and light every day. We miss you, sweet boy.

You’ve taught us so much without ever saying a word. That life itself is a gift, and as fragile as it is, to live joyfully with an open heart. That we are born fearless, and that strength cannot be measured in inches or pounds. That family and community are the foundations on which our lives become whole. To greet every opportunity with intention and purpose, and to make the most of every moment because our next breath is never guaranteed.

In honor of Micah’s vibrant spirit, a memorial mass will be held at Holy Child Church/Corpus Christi Parish (212 Station St., Bridgeville, PA, 15017) on October 19, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. A celebration of life will follow at Broniak & Kraf Flowershop and Greenhouse (3205 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, PA 15017). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Micah’s honor to Beverly’s Birthdays (beverlyspgh.org) or Christopher’s Kitchen (christopherskitchen.org). Arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care.
