Michael Springel

Michael Springel, age 59, passed away on August 31st, 2026. He was a proud United States Army veteran, will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Born on October 12, 1966 to the late Catherine and Wilbert M. Springel, Michael graduated from Oliver High School in 1984. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Sergeant First Class (SFC). His two decades of service reflected his honor, dedication, and commitment to his country.

Michael was the beloved husband of Melissa Springel; loving father of Heather (David) Springel; proud grandfather of Kameron Springel; and dear brother of Shirley Panucci, Cindy (Vicky) Springel, Scott (Holly) Springel, and his late sister, Patricia (Edward) Belveny.

A lifelong Pittsburgh sports fan, Michael loved cheering on his hometown teams and especially enjoyed going to Pirates games. He also enjoyed watching ESPN, playing golf, reading, and watching the History Channel. He treasured the companionship of his beloved dog, George, and cat, Quizy.

Michael will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his love of family, proud military service, and the many cherished memories he leaves behind.

Military Honors will be rendered at 1:30PM on Monday, September 14th, 2026 at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date for family and friends.
