Nancy Fotovich

Nancy Fotovich, 57, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, after a courageous and grace-filled battle with metastatic breast cancer. Born on January 14, 1969, Nancy faced life’s challenges with remarkable strength, resilience, and unwavering love for those around her. First diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002, she met every chapter of her journey with determination, dignity, and hope.

Born to the late Diane and Robert Glass, Nancy was a proud graduate of Montour High School’s Class of 1987 and went on to earn her degree from Geneva College in 1991. She devoted her life to serving and caring for others — a calling that shaped both her career and the way she moved through the world.

For 28 years, Nancy was a dedicated second-grade teacher with Montour School District, retiring in 2024 after nearly three decades of inspiring young minds. Teaching was more than her profession; it was her purpose. She poured her heart into every classroom she entered, leaving a lasting impression on countless students and families through her patience, kindness, encouragement, and unwavering belief in every child’s potential. To her students, she was often the steady light that helped them find their way.

Long before her years in education, Nancy’s love for service was evident in all she did. She worked at Tasty Freeze and Dairy Queen and served as a cafeteria manager during her college years. Her natural gift for hospitality and care became part of her legacy — one lovingly carried on by her daughter, Stefani, now a restaurant manager in downtown Pittsburgh.

Though Nancy accomplished so much throughout her life, her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was being a mother to her daughter, Stefani. Her love was steadfast, selfless, and unconditional — the kind of love that became a guiding light, one that will continue to shine even after goodbye.

Nancy shared 28 years of marriage with her husband, Steven Fotovich — a relationship that was shaped by perseverance and held together by a deep and abiding love. Their journey was not always easy, but it was real, enduring, and built on a connection that remained steadfast through every chapter.

Nancy found joy in life’s simplest and most beautiful moments. She loved tending to her flowers, hatching butterflies and praying mantises, birdwatching, and collecting seashells along the beach. She cherished traveling with friends, summer walks, Zumba classes, frozen Cokes, sweet watermelon on warm afternoons, and the excitement of the Fourth of July, when fireworks lit up the sky. She loved watching movies, especially Dirty Dancing, Cinderella, and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. She had a vibrant spirit and a deep appreciation for friendship, laughter, and making memories.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Steven Fotovich; her cherished daughter, Stefani Fotovich; her siblings, Michelle Cardillo, Donald Glass, and Lynn Schwartzmiller.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Diane and Robert Glass.

Nancy’s life was defined by love, service, and quiet strength. She was a light to so many — in her classroom, in her friendships, and most of all in her family. Like the message in one of her favorite songs, she was a flashlight for those she loved, helping guide them through life’s darkest moments. Her light will continue to shine in the countless lives she touched.
