Nicholas W. Waskiewicz, age 54, born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, passed away after a short, but hard fight with Pulmonary Fibrosis, on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, surrounded by love and family. Nick is the beloved husband of Chrissy McFadden; loving father of Sommer S. and Nicholas J. Waskiewicz; stepfather of Noah R. McFadden; son of the late Barbara Eutsey-Waskiewicz; cherished brother of Joseph (Megan) Waskiewicz and Tom (Marty) Lebbano; former spouse and life-long friend of Lori Mourer; also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Nick was a man who lived life fully and touched countless lives along the way. His passion for beer led him to explore 61 new breweries in 2024 alone! He was the regular Friday night bartender at Headley’s where he would serve up a cold craft beer or a bag of hot popcorn. He was the charismatic salesmen, always telling you a slightly embellished story, you know, for effect. He considered his colleagues and customers close friends. A devoted sports enthusiast, he was especially passionate about basketball and football, watching with a coach’s eye and deep appreciation for all aspects of the game. For many years, he served as a beloved basketball coach in the Pittsburgh Diocese, mentoring countless young athletes and running the successful Miracles in March tournaments. He loved to golf with his son in their weekly beer league, he even went to the US open this past year in Oakmont. He loved getting people together for just about anything: grilling, summer days at the pool, outside fires, a great dinner, dancing, or last-minute lunches with his brother. An adventurous spirit, Nick explored the world – walking on Alaskan glaciers, hiking Costa Rican rainforests, and always exploring hiking trails or campgrounds nearby. He was a master in the kitchen, especially known for his pizza-making skills honed from his early days at Luigi’s. He was a man who was deeply loved and connected to so many lives, he will live on in all of us. Did we say he loved beer?
Family and friends will be received on Monday, February 9, 2026, for a visitation from 2:00-8:00pm at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care 5405 Steubenville Pike Robinson Township, PA 15136.
